Shadow of Maa-
I have seen her working 24*7 without asking for a vacation from my childhood days and now that I am a big girl I try to take a few of her work responsibilities on me like if she goes out to attend a relative’s wedding she can rely on me for looking after home. Even then when she goes, her heart is always struck at home, she calls me 3-4 times and guide me in cooking over phone and about which things are placed at which place in the home.
There are times in my life when I am exhausted with the life spend at hostel, I feel like crying bored with the hostel food and then Maa calls me and ask, beta have you taken dinner ? I wipe the tears and lie to her and smile and say yes Maa I had my dinner, it was very yum. The next morning itself she sends a packet full of homemade food along with my favourite Chinese noodles. I get short of words then, how she caught my lie ? I eat it with joy and happiness sharing it with my friends and tells mom that everyone loved it very much. She feels relieved.
Maa is the only one who knows my fashion taste very well. She keeps on buying something for me every time she visits me. I say her no mom, I have it now, I don’t want new clothes. She says take it anyway, I know everyone will wear new dresses on the freshers or prom parties
She often scolds me too when I don’t work nicely or do a lot of mistakes carelessly. To which she says –
Tune bura toh nahi mana na ?
I scold you beta par isko dil pe mat lena
Kyuki dil se me hamesha tera acha chahungi aur yeh baat tujhe bhi samajh aayei jab tu sasural jayegi …

You made me nostalgic. I never stayed at hostel but I am out of home in Pune from past 8 years…
