Are your kids growing right ?

October 5, 2019

Staying healthy is important. Eating right and nutritious from childhood can make us stay active and fit. Recently I answered an quiz on growing right by pediasure for a Twitter campaign, here it goes –

growing right quiz with Blogchatter

  1. What is the ideal duration for a child’s mealtime?

Ideal meal time for a kid is during school hours. I always love parents who put efforts in making a handmade lunch for their kids. And if they are not making a handmade lunch I will suggest to avoid giving kids anything that is packaged- peanuts are always handy in all the season and improve immune system of a child

2. What is a good feeding schedule?

As A good feeding schedule depends upon the activity done by a child. I always prefer 2 big meals followed by fruits, nuts and anything homemade during the day or after lunch hours

3. What kind of discipline must be included during meal times?

I don’t think a child should eat at any time instead have a fix time and routine for his meals like sitting cross legged, finishing evening meals before 8, not eating during midnight, biting 32 times, eating with hands…also I really appreciate when kids join in making of food by their hands like peeling mangoes with their hands and munching on it… engaging in food activities is more nutritious than anything else because a child is happy then.

4.
What are some food groups that children must have in their diets?

This is a common question asked by so many mothers to their dietician but I believe we should give a kid that he really enjoys eating, which is handmade at same time and involves homemade ghee in dal. Also I will say All the mamma stop worrying if your kid don’t like milk, don’t give them milk with bournvita, complain or chocolate syrups or anything that involves artificial sugar . Kid takes the milk because of the taste of extra added product but as per the research done by grannies, nanis and science milk only benefits a person if she or he drinks it by personal choice, imposed milk or any other food given to child only harms.

5. What do vegetables and fruits provide?

Vegetables and fruits provide energy, fiber, vitamins and minerals and what not but their main work is keeping us close to Mother Earth. Their main purpose is to keep reminding us that we are part of Earth and we must take care of it.

6. Why are fats necessary for kids?

Fats are necessary for kids because they have to live a long time like grandparents. Also eat as much ghee as much as you want but be the one kid who in the field sets goals for other to play. Handwork is essence of fats to work properly. It provides miscellaneous strength.

7. What foods contain protein?

Pulses, meat, poultry, and lentils everything contains protein… but the protein only works if the food is freshly made, eaten during lunch time for easy digestion and made in a natural style without following equipment like ovens or pressure cooker.

8. Are different food groups needed for different age group of kids?

No different food groups are not needed just the method of cooking differs like boiled food for toddlers for easy digestion likewise.

9. What should a feeding schedule take care of ?

I will say no rules, let a child decide what to eat, how much to eat and if he wants to eat it or not. Just teach them the benefits of all the food given by Earth so that he becomes wise enough to choose himself his own food group.

10. Why is it necessary to eat from different food groups ?

 For change in taste maybe.
